However, I have been using them for my potato flake sourdough starter and love it!! I've since bought more lids, to include when I give extra starter away. Potato flake starter doesn't need to be strained, but it does need constant air flow. I keep it in my fridge with the top translucent lid in the "open" position which works great to let air in but keep unwanted things out. When my starter is on the countertop for a feed, after I have added the feeding liquid, I put the colorful lid on without the translucent top lid to allow for maximum airflow. Again, perfect for letting air in but keeping everything else out! I absolutely love these lids for my starter! I wish there was a version with larger holes for milk kefir, too!
