We have subsequently ordered #2-4 from Amazon and each is funnier than the last. I have a 7-year old son who will read them in one-two sittings and a 4-year old daughter who loves them so much that I have been reading them aloud to her. There are 2 make and 1 female protagonists. The books are just scary enough to not be hokey but never too scary for even my pre-school daughter. And they keep you guessing with great plot twists. We are hooked! Although he loves to read he's been a little behind in starting reading chapter books. These are the first chapter books he's been really into. He can read them on his own, but reads them slowly and struggles with an occasional word. They are definitely age appropriate though and he is starting to get faster reading them independently. Whether he's reading them on his own or we're reading them to him, he's completely captivated by these stories. He loves the monsters and the art work throughout the book. As a parent, I enjoy the stories too. They are cute, funny stories, without any obnoxious characters or storylines.
