Review: Never worked properly, terrible quality control - The pump was purchased during the very wet weather in October 2019 to pump out the trenches on a community archaeological excavation of a Roman road and part of a Roman settlement. As a small charity with no grant funding, we would rather not have spent £250 on a pump, but felt we had no had no choice. The problems started immediately, in that the quick Start Guide had images of an entirely different machine, with quite different controls. We managed to work that out (after all, it's basically a lawn mower engine) but found we could only raise the water about 30cm up the inlet pipe. We soon realised that the supplied clips were simply not adequate to stop the powerful pump sucking air in through the join between the inlet pipe and the pump - so much so that when trying to tighten the clip sufficiently it snapped. An emergency trip to a nearby farmer was made, who kindly gave us a much heavier duty clamp, which once the water actually got to the pump, seemed to work and emptied one trench very fast - at least at first. However, we still couldn't understand why every time we started the pump, it was struggling to suck the air out of the pipe and get the water moving. It soon became clear that the problem was getting worse, and then we realised that air was being sucked in between the two metal parts of the pump inlet, where for some very odd reason there was no gasket or seal. Even worse, one the second day of attempting to use the pump, we saw water dripping from the pump housing itself, which at first we thought was spillage during priming, but which we soon found was actually a leak between the two halves of the pump housing, allowing even more air into the system. Ultimately, we resorted to buying 20 buckets and bailing out by hand. In total, we identified two manufacturing faults, a major design flaw, and a largely irrelevant quick start guide. Thanks.** A: Dear Melnish, The pump only outputs water with a pressure of 2,69 bar. That is probably not enough to clean your patio. The pump is able to move a lot of water per minute but not with high pressure. For cleaning your patio you will need to have a look at a pressure washer that operates at +100 bar pressure. **Q: Considering on buying this pump but would like to ask, would it be suitable for emptying wet well, silty ponds, etc.** A: I use mine to draw water from ground stand pipe, which I believe is between 10 and 15 deep. It comes with a filter which you could use to drain the ponds. It’s definitely powerful enough to fill my 1000 Ltr IBC tanks in about 10 mins. **Q: Can I extract all the water from a flooded basement? For example if you have a flooded basement With 2cm water can it pump it?** A: Hi Anastasios, The WP2-35 pump is perfect if you need to pump out several feet of water. This type of pump is not suited for 2 cm of water. It will quickly run dry which is not helping lowering the water level. It does lower the lifespan of the pump. I would look out for a sump pump in combination with a sump pit, a solution that could drain the basement entirely. If flooding is occurring often you might want to consider this approach. If a sump pit is no option please take into account even with the best sump pump a small layer (few mm's) of water will probably remain on the floor. **Q: Hi, i bought this pump a month ago and just opened it to use. the pump is running fine but does not suck any water at all. am i doing something wrong** A: Did you prime the pump? It should be filled with water before you start it up otherwise it will not suck any water. I do not know if this is your problem but this can be a cause of the pump not functioning.
