If you have read the previous books in the series you are familiar with Penn. He is the fun loving friend to everyone and bed warmer to many. He doesn’t have an interest in settling down. He is very multi layered and there is more to him than meets the eye. He really is a sweetheart under all the brash talk.Avery Penn arrives to escape her Hollywood life and famous mother. She wants a real life and roots in a community where people care about each other. She is tired of her superficial life and phony friends in California. She decides to move in with her aunt. She has loved being there every time she has visited in the past. Speaking of visits...way back when Penn and Avery got to know each other biblically. He doesn’t seem to remember and that breaks her heart because that night meant so much to her.Penn decides from the first moment he sees her and she literally falls for him that he wants her. The problem is Avery knows that Penn is all about right now and she wants a chance at forever. Can they find their forever? A friendly wave, a smile, people who genuinely care when they ask how you’re doing. A kind, peaceful place to call home.Avery and Penn have a very short history in this small town, too bad only one of them remembers that special night.Dogwood Lane is as far from Los Angeles as Avery could get. She needed to get away from her uncaring, narcissistic, plastic family as she could could get. She found a safe haven with her aunt. Life with her parents did teach her something. It taught her life goals. She wants what her parents would never achieve. She wants it all. Love, marriage and, someday, kids. And ultimately, it taught her the tools she would need to resist the pull of the towns charming playboy, Penn.Penn. Handsome, tattooed, flirty, cocky and not used to women turning him down. Not until the feisty Avery looks past his signature smirk and sees he’s not looking for a serious anything, let alone a relationship, and does what no other woman has ever done. His ego is big enough to fill a football stadium and he's about as deep as a toddler’s wading pool. At first glance, that is. His easy charm and swoony smile let him get away with most everything and make all the girls in town vie for his attention. But as we get to know him, the multitude of layers peel back and his unrepentant, devil-may-care attitude hides the part of him who's still that young boy his parents couldn’t love due to their own inadequacies and brokenness.Avery has lived all of her life trying to stay out of the spotlight of her famous parents. She’s hoping her move to Dogwood Lane, TN, will help her build real friendships with people who see her for who she really is, rather than someone to take advantage of for their own selfish purposes. And Penn clearly has one thing in mind when it comes to Avery, but she apparently hasn’t gotten the same memo all the other single women of Dogwood Lane have, because time and time again, she rejects Penn’s advances.Settle in and prepare yourself for a romping good time with these two, because they're just so darn fun!
