First, you can indeed use the bar itself for self defense as it is a well-crafted piece of aircraft aluminum that works extremely well for enhancing your physique when used as designed, but could be used effectively as a weapon of self-defense if you were to be attacked. Most likely with no damage to the Gorilla Bow itself! As to the second part of your question, the Gorilla Bow could be used to shoot arrows if one so chooses to use it for that purpose. However, you would probably need a custom-designed nock on your arrows for proper fit and the arrows would not fly overly far or be as accurate as ones let from a compound bow.
