They usually needed two hands to zip, and the teeth are sharp to the touch. in the end, I decided to switch to the hickory, and I am glad I did. The coated zippers are what you find on the tumi alpha line. One other significant difference is that the hickory fabric is limper relative to the anthracite one so the latter holds it's shape better.I use this bag to carry an iPad, my lunch (which is usually in a 4" tin), a newspaper, hat/gloves, and the usual things a woman carries in her purse. Everything fits well and all the pockets makes it easy to organize my things.I am 5' and I like how the bag is on the small side. The quality of this backpack is outstanding and it is extremely durable. I've had it for nearly a year now and it looks like brand new. The size is just right and will fit most size laptop computers. The zippers are of the highest quality which is important to me because I dislike zippers that are cheap and need two hands to unzip. These slide nicely and smoothly. The only thing I dislike about this backpack is that it falls over when set on the ground. for some reason it falls forward so you have to lean it back. A small thing I admit, but just a little annoying.
