I turn it on and am immediately bombarded by ghost trying to contact our side. My unit may be a defective unit. **Q: Does it demodulate the signal so you can listen to the signal either from the computer or standalone unit?** A: No it does not. It will simply show all the frequencies that are being used for a given frequency range and their signal strength. It is not an actual receiver. **Q: Good for detecting 5g ?** A: The unit I ordered is limited to the 2.4Ghz ISM band and sub-Ghz cellular bands. Don't know if the company makes a 5G version. Also the device works very well for my use and is unusually accurate for a handheld device. **Q: Will it detect leakage from telephone poles and from a ham radio shack in the ham radio bands 1.8MHz and up?** A: Hello, This unit will measure frequencies between 240-960 MHz, and 2.35-2.55 MHz. It will display it in MHz, and signal strength. If you are looking for RF leakage you may want to use an EMF Meter. I would recommend the Latnex AF-5000 All In One EMF Meter.
