## Description

Before weather forecasting was common, weather houses like this traditional Black Forest weather chalet were popular. When the air is moist (high humidity), a fiber string inside the house expands and lets the man come out of the door indicating bad weather. If the air is dry (low humidity), the fiber string shrinks, pulling the man in and letting the woman come out of the house, indicating good weather. A thermometer with both Fahrenheit and Celsius scale is mounted on the center of the weather house. Hand made in the Black Forest of Germany. Great effort has been made to portray this clock as accurately as possible. As with many handmade items, the exact coloration and carving may vary slightly from item to item.

It was beautifully made - very nice details and in perfect condition.  However, it would not work in my house.  I put it in various places, and even by the door that leads to the garage, it would not work.  I tried "resetting" it, but it still did not work.  Only the girl would come out.  Disappointing as it was to be a very special gift for my brother.
