Because it's PU it does have a smell to it which I'm sure would air out given time. Unfortunately, the purse was poorly packaged, kind of folded over leaving a very noticeable crease across the middle of it. I tried hanging it for a few days with some items in it to see if it would smooth out, with no luck.
