Review: Must-Have Postpartum Kit - This Frida Mom postpartum kit was an absolute lifesaver after giving birth. It comes with everything you need to feel more comfortable and supported during recovery. The quality of each item is amazing, especially the peri bottle and cooling pads they provided so much relief. I also love how convenient and well-organized the kit is, making those first days much easier. Every new mom should have this! Highly recommend.
Review: Nice Products - I feel great about having this product ready for whenever I go into labor. It's nice to know that I won't be totally unprepared, no matter what happens (or when). I will update this review after baby arrives, as well. First of all, this came in a bigger box than I expected and was definitely heavier than I expected! I'm on modified bed rest but figured I could go down to grab this when it arrived at my apartment. For those of you who were told by their doctor not to lift anything heavy, you can probably get away with it, but you might want to have someone else grab it for you instead. The packaging was very nice, I think the products look great. I tried on the gown, socks, and a pair of the underwear and I think they will be nice! I still haven't decided if I want to wear the gown during labor or just put it on after, but I am going to wash it beforehand with Dreft, because I think that would be nice and out of the box I thought it smelled a little bit like disinfectant or something. It for just about right on me (195 lbs, 32 weeks pregnant), I like the pockets and the snap front for skin to skin. I was a little worried that the whole caddy of stuff wasn't going to fit on the back of the toilet, but it does! Even with the seat or lid up. But if you don't have enough space between the toilet and the wall, it might not work very well. Again, I'm impressed so far and I'll update after baby is born. Update: Baby Arrived on his due date, 9 lbs 4 oz! Here's my updated review of these products after using them. Hospital gown: I liked it a lot while in labor when I got to the point where I didn't want to be in my normal clothes anymore. It was easy to get an epidural while wearing it, and I wore it during labor and when he was born! It worked great for skin to skin afterwards, but it got so messy I knew I didn't want to keep it, so I had the nurse cut the shoulders of it so I could take it off with my IV still in, and I threw it away. I really liked it while using it though! Grippy socks: I did use them for a while, but I wouldn't say they are an improvement over any other hospital socks, except that they were only ankle height. I will say that they didn't fit well when my feet were swollen after labor though. Postpartum Underwear: I used these only when I got home from the hospital, they were great and comfy but I didn't feel the need or desire to buy more of them. The extras from the hospital and depends were great too. Ice Pack Pads: These are amazing, and I bought two more boxes of just these pads from Target when I ran out. They are such a relief when you are particularly sore and want something other than a normal pad. Witch Hazel Pad Liners: These are ok. The concept is cool, that they are long and cover the whole pad, but in reality they bunch up or fall down while you are pulling up the pad or while wearing it. I also found that I greatly prefer just buying containers of Tuck's and laying them along the pad. The name brand is so much better because the Tuck's pads are thicker and have more witch hazel on them and are more cooling. I did really like that this pack of liners is more portable than an entire container of Tuck's, so I keep it in my bag for when I go places and need to be able to change my pad. Witch Hazel Foam: I really liked this stuff! Extra cooling and soothing, and it felt like it got more into the nooks and crannies that were hurting down there, and helped everything feel better. There is a lot in one pump bottle, too! I would have bought a second bottle if my Target ever had it in stock. Angled Peri Bottle: I love that it's angled and you can easily reach everywhere with the water. I love that it can hold more water than the bottle from the hospital. I don't love that at 2 weeks postpartum, suddenly it seems that the bottle leaks or drips a lot near the spout. Still worth it though, and I still use it every time despite the drips. Carry bag: Love it for when I'm out and about, but I don't bring everything with me because I'm mostly just at home and don't want to keep packing and unpacking the things I need in the bathroom. I keep the hospital Peri Bottle in it with the witch hazel liners from this set, along with some maxi pads and some underwear or depends. Then I stuff the whole bag in the diaper bag and I can handle a bathroom trip when away from home.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: When do you recommend purchasing this kit? Is 4 months prior to due date too early?**
A: It's never too early to be postpartum prepared! The contents do not expire within this time frame, feel free to buy and store (:

**Q: Does anyone who has used this recommend buying1 or 2 of this kit?**
A: One was more than enough for me. I didn't end up using the ice pads because the hospital provided them (and I was told you should only use them for the first 24 hours because after that, you want to promote blood flow to the vaginal/perineal area.) I found the hospital mesh underwear to be very comfortable so I saved the fridamom underwear until I returned home. I used the perineal liners and foam but still had some leftover. The only thing you may want multiple of is the peri bottle (if you have multiple bathrooms.)

**Q: What is the products in the foam? Is it wit hazel?**
A: Yes. It feels different from a medicated pad or other forms. I personally liked it a lot.

**Q: Is the peri bottle already cleaned/sterile, or do you recommend washing it before the hospital?**
A: Tbh I just used it straight from the box. But if you wanted to sterilize it, boil it like you would bottles for baby.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Critical Purchase
*by C***A on June 26, 2020*

I could not be happier that I purchased this pack! I had a natural delivery with 2nd degree tears and this pack was a lifesaver during recovery. A few thoughts on the different items: 1) The peri bottle is awesome and the angled spout makes it hugely superior to non-angled versions. It was a must-have for me. 2) The disposable underwear were super comfy, and I found they held pads better than the mesh kind from the hospital. The downside is that they are not very durable and tend to rip when you take pads with sticky lining off. If you are very careful and/or do not fully remove the covering to the sticky part of the pad (so the sticky part is only 1/2 way stuck to the underwear) you can get several uses out of them. In retrospect I would’ve just bought a few more of these separately from the pack because even though they are not super durable I found them to be incredibly comfy. 3) The witch hazel foam was great. Early on when I could not bear to do any wiping, the foam was super gentle and cooling and I think helped my stitches heal faster (or at least made them more comfortable). 4) The witch hazel wipes were also awesome for stitches recovery and the (delightful... not) post-labor hemorrhoids. They are nice and long so they cover every part you want them to reach and they had the right amount of moisture. 5) Unfortunately I completely forgot I had the ice packs as part of this kit (had put them in a separate drawer) so can’t comment on them! 6) I loved the hospital gown because it was just softer, nicer, and covered more than the one they offer hospital. Great jersey fabric. Although it is one size fits all, I did find it to be a bit big (I am 5’2”) but not really a major issue. I wore it throughout my entire labor. The socks were totally fine, I just ended up wearing my own socks because I forgot about these in the moment. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this pack to any expecting Mom. Of all the items I purchased for myself for postpartum recovery, this one was by far the most valuable.
