Originally I believed the huge top would make the heat leave too quickly, but for me it has made the hottness of that first drink less of an issue! The design is intricate and quite frankly surprised me with how awesome it looks! The flowery design is festive and is indeed pretty to look at. I would recommend these cups to anyone who drinks hot beverages! The large top helps the drink cool down faster. This does not mean it loses all heat! They really do remind me of fine English porcelain, at a fraction of the price (and much easier to use as they are dishwasher safe). They are large enough to hold 12 ounces of coffee from our Keurig with lots of room to spare for cream. They are bone China, dishwasher safe and have beautiful colors. I especially like the flowers on the inside of the cup. They hold at least 12 oz so I don’t waste tea bags.
