It's very sturdy / all metal - and so can handle weight and repeated use that I wouldn't expect of a plastic belt holder. It's secure as well - In the past several months I've been using it, I've had nothing work its way off of the clip - Climbing in and out of van, driving, climbing up and down ladders, crawling around on floor / between equipment, etc - What I hang on this belt ring holder stays until I deliberately remove it. One last thought, while it is, as I said, very secure, removing a ring (by feel) is easy - While applying inward pressure to the outer bar, just slide the ring off. I have arthritis in my hands - consequently, they're not very strong.
