Very likely to be sourced from China. Great product for kids to use for weaving patterns and for threading beads. **Q: Is this good for stringing waist beads?** A: Yes **Q: Is this cord made from real leather or is it faux?** A: The only mention of leather on Amazon's page is as one of the list of many uses to which this waxed thread may be put. It might be used for heavy duty stitching in leatherwork, but that's outside my remit -- would you want a leather wallet sewn with a contrast colourful thread? Its prime use is as a jewellery thread with a secondary applicatuin in braiding and fine-scale macramé, and that's what I purchased it for. It actually seems to be a very fine braided coloured cover (of unknown origin but prabably a synthetic fibre) over a white core, and all at 1mm diameter!
