They were able to dig out a couple shells from the top of the block and it kept them working on it. However, as they continued the block was just too hard and dense, not really like sand or clay, kind of a sticky in-between. We tried pouring water on it a bit at a time, as stated in the instructions. However, it just made a huge mess... As they dug, the clay-ish liquid spattered all over clothes, chairs, the floor, and my near by curtains and window. We decided to try soaking it outside at that point, and still weren't able to get all the shells out. I had the block in a metal pan, and it even ruined my pan. So... Fun at first when it was dry, but ended up being frustrating and a giant mess.
