While the included circle tape worked fine, the open gap at the top allows dirt and dust to accumulate between the guard and the glass, and you can't get to it to clean it. This is thick enough for him, although I don't think it would stand up to a large dog. I also couldn't use the door hanger because it didn't fit over my handle. Had to cut that off. Because of comment that it didn't stick well and I need to use removable adhesives in my apartment, I used Command picture hanging strips instead.
