When I purchased I almost sent it back without trying it. Other reviewers are correct, it does feel like thick plastic grocery bags woven together. You wouldn't think it would feel good but I'm so glad I gave it a try! The way it is made and the handles make washing the back comfortable and easy. Gel body wash lathers EXTREMELY well. I had enough for my whole body and more for what I usually use just on my back. The roughness actually feels amazing in the shower with the water. It doesn't hurt or leave marks, just scrubs dirt. This may be gross but let's be real - it also scrubs off white heads. It has exfoliated and left my back feeling smoother and the skin is much softer. I can't think of anything negative to say about it.It is about 34 inches / 86 cm long and 7.5 inches / 19 cm at the widest point. My 1st impression is that it was made from recycled plastic grocery bags - which would be cool because I'm all about re-purposing. It is very scratchy and does leave marks on my back when I've really went to town scrubbing - but after an hour or so the marks are no longer visible.
