One ounce contains approx. 4,000 quills depending on the size, which varies from approx. 1" to 2-1/2" (average about 2"). May contain some hair. A traditional art form Quillwork is an art form unique to Native Americans . It was practiced for hundreds of years before the arrival of Euro-Americans on the Great Plains. During the 18th and 19th centuries quilling arts reached one of their highest levels of development. Quillwork was used to decorate shirts, moccasins, and jewelry. Can be easily dyed These quills can be dyed various colors for quillwork.

I’ve used porcupine quills in my fly tying for decades. These are top quality quills. Very little hair, excellent quality, no order, I highly recommend them!

The quills are all different sizes especially small not a terrible problem but informing future buyers. Its states there is minimal hair and they have been washed. There is hair everywhere and they are dirty. I have actually had a chance to work with real live porcupine in Maine. This product is disgusting. I will not buy again.
