I was looking for a lightweight scarf that I could use to add protection to my neck and chest area as sunscreen has limitations.The scarf needed to be thick enough when folded to disrupt the sun's rays and yet not so thick that I'd be driven to overheat on hikes and beach walks.It also needed to be cotton. I ordered the most beautiful polyester scarf last year and one washing (with hang drying) left it as a nasty crumpled mess that sticks together and it now feels revolting. Cotton for me from now on!I ordered the 'black' scarf on Wednesday and it arrived on Saturday with free shipping.It is beautiful! I am beyond pleased with it.It looks delicate but it will do the sun blocking I need. The color black is too strong a description - it's more of a blue grey and the pattern takes on a fawn/tan color. Obviously folded onto itself the scarf gets darker. The metallic stripes glam it up. I'm attaching photos to give more of an idea about the color. Of the pictures with the ad the photo on the mannequin seems closer to the scarf color I have - I think the full on tans in the other pictures come from studio lighting.The tag states it is 100% cotton and made in India (the metallic bits are not cotton).As the cotton is almost sheer it means the scarf can be carried in a pocket or bag as it folds up small.It has a feint odor as often Indian clothing does - it's not offensive at all and should remove with washing (which I will do by hand).For $10 it's a steal. I'm back to buy it in green and red and find I am wishing I suited pink too!Treat yourself - you won't be disappointed. A set was such a bonus! We have been looking to find two purple scarves that could replace my really old ones we have been using for curtain tie backs-as I have for years. My old ones were mis-matched, which I have no problems with. I still love the look of them. Then they started to literally fall apart, shred apart actually!
