Review: Helps Tame Excess Low Frequencies - I used these 1/2" thick felt panels to tone down the booming sound from the 6.5" subwoofer of my DIY computer sound system. (I had placed it in the less than ideal alcove space beneath the desk in my small, carpeted home office.) Strategically attaching halves of a few of the 12 x 16 panels to the walls and ceiling of the 'woofer cave' (with either 3/4" long washer head screws or 1" square velcro tabs) helps to absorb some of the reflected excess bass. Together with a 9 band equalizer, they were able to make my poorly placed subwoofer's sound tighter, less flabby and much improved. They can be cut neatly with a few repeated slices made by a sharp utility knife guided by a straight edge. The black color I selected makes them visually disappear down there, but I can hear the improvement.
Review: Worked for me - I used these to deaden the sound of my hammering in my jewelry studio. My studio was converted from a plant are on an apartment patio and had open slatted top counters, which I covered with a thin plywood. I wanted to make sure my hobby wouldn’t disturb the neighbors, so I cut these boards to size to fit under the plywood. They work perfectly and absorb the thuds from my hammer! Not their intended purpose, but they are good quality and worked well for my needs.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are these tackable? If used on a wall in an office could pins be placed in them?**
A: Yes, though i don't think they would hold up as long as cork board for that purpose. Not sure. They are like thin dense ceiling tile.

**Q: I have a space that is 40ft x 20ft with 13ft ceilings and all hard surfaces, how many of these would i need?**
A: Your question leaves a lot of interpretation due to not knowing your desired acoustic results, room acoustics and targeted frequencies/issues (Ie. do you want total coverage; ceilings or not; just some help knocking down a few standing waves/echoes/etcetera), so I personally can only give you a basic idea. If you wanted to completely cover the wall and ceiling surfaces: With some very simple math- each pack is roughly 31 sq ft, meaning 34 packs-40'x13' walls; 17 packs-20'x13' walls; 26 packs-40'x20' ceiling= 77 packs by my rough math... At the current rate of $105/pk, that'd be about $8,100 in cost roughly... I would maybe look at another avenue. There are much better options out there vs. this one at that cost... and installation time. I have no idea what the other answer referring to two-sided tape is about, but correct that you would want to use something much better to affix them to the walls and ceiling. If you are just looking to target some specific frequencies or just knock down ambient echo, you would need to get a few packs, temporarily pin them in various locations- primarily where the sound waves would first hit and reflect (which you could use a mirror or just look toward the origin of the sound to get a basic starting point). Every room and need is at the very least slightly different and why pros like me use measuring equipment, geometry and formulas to address each job. There are some basic YouTube videos that may help explain this further. Hope this helps a little anyway.

**Q: Got the panels. Tried to adehre them with 3 different strong double sided tapes but they keep falling off. What to do?**
A: I got command PH206 14NA hanging strips, no problem at all still hanging from wall and ceiling.

**Q: What is the best way to secure to wall?**
A: Sticky things like tape won't stick to them. I tried and they kept falling down eventually. I found it best to create a sound panel with a few of them and then hanging that from the wall.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Effective but slightly undersized, not white
*by R***N on March 4, 2022*

On the one hand, these work well for what they’re intended to do. By ear, they reduce room reverb as least as well as acoustic wedge foam. I’d be harder on the reviews complaining about soundproofing effectiveness (this is probably not the best tool for that), if the description didn’t include the word “soundproofing”. They’re pretty rigid and command strips stick well directly, both of which make them less work to hang than foam. They’re about three times heavier, with no noticeable odor. White acoustic foam is almost impossible to find, and the one source I’ve seen wasn’t fire retardant. This is at least white-ish, and fire rated. On the other hand, they’re not 16x12. They’re very precisely cut to 15 3/4” x 11 7/8”. This doesn’t really affect coverage, but does make placing them by measurement harder and the error can visibly add up. The ‘white’ color is a very light grey with a blue cast, I’m okay with them on a white ceiling but wouldn’t put them on a white wall. Picture attached showing both measurement and comparison with white (under ~2800K light). Still giving them four stars because they work well (I ordered more after trying them out), but I wish the description was more accurate especially the measurement.
