The cushioned area is barely 11 inches. Personally UNLESS the stool already had a light bit of cushion & you put this cover over it- it wont provide much comfort unless youre smaller maybe. I used it on a wooden stool & it only adds an extra 30 mins of comfortable seating until i still need to get up & stretch... which equals like 45 min tops. I do believe weight matters in this judgement. I am 165 lbs & i have a well cushioned bum & thighs which i thought would help but it still felt like i was sitting on a brick after aahile lol.
