The bags open easily and once they are filled with soil , they will stand up. I like the fact that once the seeds or cuttings develop roots , you don't have to remove the plant to put the it in the ground as you would with a traditional pot. Since I got these only recently and I live somewhere that has a cold winter, i haven't used them much. But the little I have used them so far i am impressed. These are very inexpensive per unit. In the past, I have used a different product.
