## Questions & Answers

**Q: Cani really sprinkle this on my comforter, where my three cats love to sleep?**
A: Better yet , rub on cats

**Q: Does the free scoop provided equate to a teaspoon or tablespoon?**
A: I believe it equates to teaspoon.

**Q: Can de be used in flour, cereal and other food priducts to deter bugs & theur hatching worms? a problem in the south & need food grade product.**
A: This product won't deter them but it will kill then when they come in contact....then you will have decomposing bugs in your food stuffs. If you were to sprinkle the powder around on the shelf or floor where you keep your containers, that would kill the bugs before they got into your food stuffs.

**Q: Is this product gluten free?**
A: I don’t know. Maybe read the whole bag and the ingredients.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Get Rid of Pests Naturally
*by L***J on November 17, 2015*

I've used DE for years as a natural pest deterrent. I currently use it both externally and in my dogs' food to prevent fleas. We no longer have to use the expensive flea & tick medicine. Just a very fine dusting of DE to the dogs after they're bathed and a small amount to their food every day and we have absolutely no fleas! If there is ever an active flea infestation, you can apply externally every other day.You can also get rid of ants (and I'm told cockroaches) easily with this naturally occurring substance. Just sprinkle whenever the ants are and you will see them quickly disappear. Usually, there is no need to reapply. I find this has worked much better than Borax as an ant repellent.DE is an amazing product and I found this brand to be comparable to any of the pricier brands I have bought in the past. Great value!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ For fleas
*by D***N on August 17, 2017*

This review is for people looking to buy this for flea control. I went ahead and gave it five stars since I'm sure it works fine as a supplement. As a flea control, I'd give it more like two stars. The only reason I'm reviewing is because I've been experimenting with it since late spring and wanted to share my findings. From what I've read, the way it works is that it abrades the exoskeletons of the fleas and then draws out moisture from the fleas' bodies. Basically, they die of thirst.First thing I did was a direct application. I took small handfuls and spread them through my cats' fur. I rubbed it in and watched them over the next few days. I reapplied and watched again for a few days. I didn't notice any change in my cats constant scratching and I still found a lot of fleas on them.I was going to be away from home for a few days, so next I put some in an old sock and patted it around the house to dust everything. Everything. When I returned, I didn't notice any difference in the number of fleas. From what I've read, it's not as effective after so long. It soaks up humidity. So I cleaned everything and dusted the house again, but this time I placed fans throughout the house. I reasoned that if the air was moving, it would dry the fleas out more effectively. I was gone for a few days again, and when I returned, I still didn't notice any change.I tried applying it to the cats again, but this time I would rub them down several times a day, reasoning that it would help with the abrasion of the fleas' exoskeleton and also force them to move through the granules within the cats' fur.Still no noticeable change. Finally the weather became warm enough that I started running the air conditioner in my house. Air conditioners will suck the humidity out of the air, so I was very curious to see how that affected the results. At this point, I decided to put it all together to see if I could make it work. I dusted the house, dusted the cats, and put the fans out again. After several days, I still didn't notice any change.Eventually I did just what I was hoping to avoid and bought the cats the expensive Seresto flea collars. In less than a week, the fleas were all but gone.Though it's not a true scientific experiment without a control subject, I've come to the following conclusion. Without stopping the fleas from getting their water from your pets, diatomaceous earth is ineffective. I do think that once you stop that, it can help eliminate them if you use it correctly and stick with it, but really, it's hard to tell if it wasn't all due to the collars. .From my experience, I would say it will definitely not work as a stand-alone flea control method. I really wanted it to work because there are horror stories about those collars. Everything is fine, though.

### ⭐⭐⭐ I think it is ok...can't say for sure.
*by P***O on December 31, 2015*

I placed it on the ground but I do not know if it worked as I also did other things because I was afraid of bed bugs since I was getting bitten at night. It turned out to be an allergy to the common carpet beatle larvae...go figure.
