They are a braided non-elastic fabric. Because of the braiding, there’s a little give but I can imagine these wouldn’t fit well for a very wide or narrow foot.These are really cute and comfortable and I am very happy with them! There is an arch support which I am very happy about.“Made in China” it says on the bottom of the shoe.“Megnya” is stamped on the heel.I haven’t worn them yet except to try them on. I've worn them for a couple of weeks now, they are very comfortable. I have not worn them for long walks yet. (*Note: They are described as hiking sandals....they are NOT. These will not stand up to hiking conditions, stick to the ones like Merrell, etc. that are specifically constructed for that!*) The arch support is decent, but not great. I think that could be a drawback on long walks. I had 2 major foot surgeries a few years ago, these sandals are comfortable to me where I can't wear most styles that are simple and cute like these are. I'm hoping the braided cord doesn't stretch over time. If the cord remains stable, I think these will last for several years of moderate wear. I definitely recommend them. My measurements were better suited for the size 9, so I ordered those.My foot fit comfortably! It did take a few wears for the straps to conform to my feet, and you may have to adjust them a little.
