The product does a decent job at protecting the phone, although it won't protect a great deal with drops. Carrying the phone in a purse, this cover will protect that phone, even without a plastic screen cover. The design is beautiful.I gave the fingerprint reader opening a possibly undeserved one because the S8 phone has a fingerprint reader that really stinks, so you know any cover won't do a good job with aiding function.
