## Description

You’ve probably seen kinesiology tape, even if you didn’t know what it was. Often colored, strips of kinesiology tape are visible on swimmers, volleyball players, runners, basketball players, football players, soccer players, and others. Kinesiology tape is worn by athletes at all levels including the Olympics, the NFL, the NBA, the NCAA, and high school. In addition to its wide use in elite sports, kinesiology tape is also effective for everyday activities and can help people work, play, and reduce discomfort. Common application areas are neck, shoulder, lower back, knee, ankle, and foot. Research has proven kinesiology tape to be effective at supporting muscles and joints during activity. The most important difference between kinesiology tape and standard athletic tape is flexibility. Kinesiology tape provides support to body parts without immobilizing them or limiting their range of motion. New THERABAND Kinesiology Tape has two critical advantages over other kinesiology tapes. Because the application of kinesiology tape requires a measured amount of stretch, the exclusive THERABAND XactStretch visual elongations indicators are a breakthrough in ease of use and proper application. Every professional application indicates the prescribed amount of stretch but only THERABAND Kinesiology Tape provides an indicator of the stretch being applied. The 25% and 50% stretch indicators in THERABAND Kinesiology Tape allow you to easily apply the proper amount of tension to your tape application for the desired effect, whether that’s to reduce discomfort or support your muscles and joints. This allows experts and beginners to apply with confidence the first time, eliminating waste and hassle from improper application. It also features best in class adhesion from Cramer Products, a company with a 95 year legacy in sports medicine leadership and market leader in tape. Adhesive that sticks every time is critical for high performance athletes and others who play the sport of life. THERABAND Kinesiology Tape may be worn for up to five days.

Review: No allergic reaction, lifting or residue. - The only brand of k-tape I've been able to use up to now that doesn't give me a rash is the original Kinesiology Okeo Tape- Gold. It works well, but it's expensive, can lift on the corners and tends to leave sticky residue behind. This TheraBand tape stayed down for three days with zero lift even through the shower, stays tight to my skin, left zero residue, was comfortable to the point I forgot I had it on and most shockingly, I had absolutely zero reaction. I took it off in the shower so the warm water would help the adhesive loosen, and it wasn't painful the way other types have been. The price is another big win for me- significantly less expensive than competitors.
Review: Just what I was looking for! - I was using another type of tape that claimed to be hypoallergenic, but it was still leaving rashes on my skin. This Theraband tape leaves no marks at all! If you have sensitive skin, and other brands haven’t worked for you, this one just might be what you’re looking for. I have a genetic condition that causes joint pain, particularly in my knees, so the tape has really been helping a lot. I normally wear knee braces, but they cut off circulation in my legs. When applied properly, this tape is nearly as effective for me as knee braces, and saves me from pain throughout the day. Some days I wear tape for 11 hours, so this tape not causing any problems for my skin is incredible. The hexagons that indicate what level of stretch you’re at is pretty neat, though I mainly apply the tape by feel. But if you’re new to taping then that is likely something that will help you figure it out better. The material is soft, stretchy, and supportive, and doesn’t fray much over time. The adhesive is sticky enough to hold on well, but no so sticky that it leaves residue or fibers stuck to your skin. Unfortunately the square markers on the back of the tape are not as helpful as other brands of tape, and with the text on the back it takes more time to cut consistent lengths of tape. I wish the back of the tape were designed better to make things easier. But overall this tape is fantastic, it helps reduce my daily pain, and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs k-tape. This brand is more expensive than others, but since it offers a much better product and experience, the price is worth it for me to be able to live my life more normally. Tips for any type of k-tape: 1. If you’re new to taping, cut the tape shorter than you need it to be, since you will be stretching it to fit. 2. Round the corners a fair bit, as this will prevent the corners from peeling up which might cause the tape to come off over time. I place multiple strips on top of each other and cut the ends round in one motion which saves time. 3. Instead of trying to peel the tape off the backing, rip near the middle or one of the ends of the tape which will tear only the backing, and now it is easier to remove without wasting time picking at the ends. 4. When applying the tape, only stretch the middle segment of the tape. The last 1-2 inches on each end should have no tension. This prevents the tape from peeling up and falling off. 5. Trim hair where the tape is being applied. I mainly wear the tape on my legs, and since I’m a guy with no desire to shave my legs, I have even less of a desire to have my legs waxed while removing tape. Trimming hair shorter definitely helps ease pain while removing tape.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How can I be sure this won't irritate my skin? I've tried other tapes before that irritate my skin after use. Have studies been done to prove this...**
A: If other tapes have irritated your skin, this might too. There is adhesive in the part that goes next to your skin and it is pretty sticky. Most irritation to skin is from the adhesive elements in the tapes. I have never had any problem with this tape and I do react to some bandaids if I leave them on more than several hours. If you are concerned you may be able to contact the supplier and they may be able to send a sample for you to try.

**Q: I've never used kinesiology tape before... what are some tips I should keep in mind when applying it to my skin?**
A: Easy stuff.... Clean and then dry the area well. Professionals use a drying spray before application but I've never used it. The biggest tips come from the application fold-outs that are in the box - make sure to apply some 'stretch' to the tape relative to the amount of flexion you are going to experience at the area you apply. I find that I want a little tension when the area is at rest ( which means more when it is flexed). If you overstretch at rest, then the tape will either tear or the adhesive gives out when fully stretched.

**Q: Can I stretch the band more than 100% for more effectiveness**
A: No, we do not recommend stretching more than 50% of available stretch for the majority of applications. If you are unsure about how far you can stretch it, our Kinesiology Tape features exclusive XactStretch™ technology which eliminates misapplication and allows users to get the right stretch, every time.

**Q: Is this price for one roll or two as shown?**
A: I received one roll with my order.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best tape you can buy (but be careful!)
*by M***O on September 11, 2021*

I bought this after my PT recommended it to me. I’d tried other tapes that were okay. I was not impressed with the stuff until I tried this tape. It’s very elastic and does pretty much anything you want it to do. I use it to help with chronic ankle sprains and I love it. But, I’ve ended up using it for other things too and I consider this a staple in my medicine cabinet now. I wore the wrong sandals once and ended up with insane blisters on the bottom of my feet. I still had to work, so I had to figure out how to protect the blisters while also being able to walk. Bandaids will roll up and move around and make the blister worse. So, I ended up coating the blister in Vaseline and then using a few short strips on the tape to completely cover the area. It worked like a charm! The Vaseline protected the blister from the adhesive, but the stretch of the tape kept it tightly protected. Healed so fast! The adhesive is insane though. It lasts for 2 days through a shower. Once it’s been on your skin for about 30 minutes, the heat from your body like fuses it in place. It does NOT move. It doesn’t matter if you’re wearing socks and shoes. Doesn’t budge. That being said, be careful removing the tape!!! The first time I used this tape, I took it off the same way I took off other tapes, I just ripped it off. BAD IDEA WITH THIS TAPE!!! Do not just rip it off!!! I ended up with a GIANT blister covering about 3 square inches of skin because the adhesive is so strong that when I ripped the tape off, it separated the layers of skin. It was so painful. It was my own fault though, so I don’t blame the tape. Just be careful taking it off. Best way I’ve found is to take a shower and then when the tape is wet, start rolling is back. I basically roll it up adhesive side out and it comes of gently this way. My stupidity aside, I’d highly recommend this tape. It’s so worth the money.
