Review: Absolutely Perfect - Having read various positive and negative reviews about this, I was really undecided and not sure what to expect, especially as it is quite expensive for a thermal mug. Now that I've used it on a daily basis for several weeks now I can categorically highly recommend it - and it is worth every penny. It doesn't leave a metallic aftertaste; it keeps my tea piping hot for several hours (and still drinkable 10 hours later!); it doesn't leak at all; it is fairly easy to clean (but like every other mug I have had, there is a build-up around the ridges in the lid); it is sturdy and very well made. I know some reviewers have commented that the spring broke after a short period of time but I have not had any issues with this. Like everything, I tend to be quite gentle when dismantling/opening the various bits for cleaning. I have also only once experienced a bit of 'drip-age' when I went to take another mouthful and dribbled down my top. On watching what I did, it was entirely 'operator error' and was because I took my finger off the button while the mug was still tilted. Having realised what I did, I now make sure that I have the mug vertical before releasing the button - no more drip-age! You will not be disappointed with this item and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
Review: It works! - I have had another mug by the same manufacturer and it was rubbish! It leaked the seal didn't fit and when I tried it it would go everywhere sometimes and some times it would be sealed. This however is easy to use, the lid seals perfectly every time and it works. I have been using it on a regular basis and it is as good as new and it keeps my coffee at just the right temperature, I have mine black at 90 degrees. It does go cooler after 3 hours but still a good cup. If for some reason I was to lose it I would definitely buy another. I am still using mine very regularly and all is still excellent. Update Oct 2022, I persuaded my wife to try my Travel Mug when she was going on a long walk. I made her coffee to the same temperature as mine at 90 degrees. She found it was perfect and all the way through a 4 hour walk. Guess what! Yes I have had to buy her one too, but in the stainless and blue, so we are both happy.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What’s the difference between this and Contigo Auto Seal west loop?**
A: There's a big difference in the locking mechanism. The west loop mug uses a much larger and differently positioned spring. After less than a month, my West loop spring snapped and the mug would not close. I've had the transit mug for almost 4 years and had no issues with it at all. Much sturdier spring design

**Q: Please would you specify the base diameter**
A: Dear Consumer, this is Leszek from the Contigo Consumer Care. Thank you for contacting us as regards the diameter of the base of our Transit 16oz. In response, I do confirm that the base is 7.8 cm.

I hope that this information is useful.

Leszek

**Q: Does this fit securely in a bicycle bottle cage? Lots of people riding bikes this Winter.**
A: Simply the best

**Q: What's the diameter at the widest part? And what happens when washed in dishwasher?**
A: Widest 3”…… they are the best you will ever buy. Put ice and juice/ water it will keep the ice for hour and hours

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Leak proof travel mug
*by D***E on 16 March 2026*

Amazing mug, does not leak, keeps your brew hot for a long time and the button press to drink is great when driving (not that you should be doing that). Holds a decent amount of beverage too!
