## Description

Proving once and for all that you can’t keep a good Slayer down, Joss Whedon’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season Eight Motion Comic picks up where the smash hit TV show left off! Based on the Dark Horse comic book series, these eye-popping motion comic adventures breathe new life into the Buffyverse for long-time fans and new “watchers” alike. The Hellmouth may have been destroyed, but the world still needs saving and Buffy Summers is back at her butt-kicking, demon-slaying best to do the job. She’s relocated her base of operations to a castle in Scotland to lead the Scooby Gang, including hundreds of newly activated Slayers scattered around the world to battle the supernatural forces of evil. But in the wake of Sunnydale’s destruction, the U.S. government thinks Buffy and her legions of followers have grown too powerful and are now terrorist threats. Meanwhile, a seemingly unstoppable group of Japanese vampires hatch a nefarious plot, while the biggest, baddest Big Bad of them all, Twilight, is on a mission to destroy every Slayer on Earth!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic and all-too-short!
*by W***E on November 27, 2011*

Fantastic and all-too-short! These episodes ultimately feel like "previews" for episodes if you're accustomed to a full 45 minutes per story (as Buffy fans surely are) rather than 10 or 15 minutes. But a lot of story is crammed into each short episode, and the stories themselves feel like a natural continuation of the television series.Special praise for the voice actress who plays Willow - her voice is the closest to the mannerisms of the original. The voices of Xander and Faith are right on too. And the rest give it a good try.It takes a few minutes to get into the groove of the animation style. Be aware that lips do not move, but everything else does, in a sort of abbreviated way which ultimately has a lot of energy and becomes very satisfying -- if a bit trippy.Hopefully the second half of season 8 will be animated into "action comic" form soon. I haven't heard any hints of that yet, but there's every reason to bring back everyone who worked on this first-half. It is really good.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What I've been waiting for for three years...and I wasn't let down.
*by F***E on July 20, 2010*

Just so you know, this is my first Amazon review. But, as an avid Buffy fan, I thought it was my duty. When Buffy Season 8: The Long Way Home Part 1 written by Joss Whedon himself hit stands in March '07, I was one of the many countless fans who couldn't wait to rip it from it's plastic sleeve and absorb it in it's entirety, hoping to finally fill the void that Buffy left when it went off the air seven years ago. While my thoughts about it were mixed--and still remain so, 30+ issues later--one of my biggest problems with it was that I could never completely grasp the correct feel. Having not read a lot of comics (not that I haven't ever...I do have SOME experience with comics), I felt like I wasn't reading it at the right pace, or I ended up confused and would have to go back, effectively killing the whole vibe. And there was something else missing, too...music, sound effects, whatever. I honestly couldn't even say. But I always knew the answer...this needed to become a motion-comic.And now, it is. And it far succeed my highest expectations.Okay, obviously, what everyone will care about the most is the voice acting, so i'll get straight to it. It isn't fabulous. But it isn't HORRIBLE, either. First of all, Buffy: she's not great, especially when we've already been spoiled with Giselle Loren's pretty spectacular (in my opinion, at least) imitation of Sarah Michelle Gellar in the Buffy video games and animated series pilot. But the new Buffy isn't all that bad. The biggest thing--and Giselle Loren had this problem sometimes, too--is the ever-so-subtle differences in the delivery, just small places where there needed to be a pause, or whatever, where you just find yourself thinking "No...that's definitely not how Buffy would have said it." But, honestly, I think with time I'll be able to get over it and maybe even be able to appreciate the new voice of Buffy Summers.Moving on: Xander. I REALLY didn't like him. Substantially more than I didn't like Buffy. I don't know what it is but I honestly don't know if I'll ever be able to get used to it. Then again, Xander only got a few lines in the first issue, so maybe it will improve as we get to hear more of him.Dawn, too, only had a few lines, and I thought she was okay. On par with Buffy, if not a decent bit better. All the new characters seem adequate, at least for a motion comic. I did, however, feel like the military guys recorded out of cheap equipment or something...the recording just sort of seemed to have an amateurish feel to it. Didn't really notice it with the rest, though.I thought all sound effects/music were really great. I mean, you just can't help but get excited when you hear the Buffy theme song. But, here's what is REALLY important--the animation. And it was fantastic. Really, truly, amazingly done. I was in awe as I watched it, it was down-right beautiful. It really added a new dimension to the comic. All of the motion and the effects...it was perfect. And with the sound effects and music, the pros of this far outweigh the slight (but expected) con that is the voice acting.Honestly, if you liked the comics, you will love this. And for 99c, it's most certainly worth it. And, as always, buy it from Amazon and not Apple!! ;)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice continuation of the Buffy saga
