The size of the compass is about that of a half dollar (remember those? With Kennedy on them) and fits easily into your pocket. It's also an accurate compass. Very sturdy and well-weighted pewter. It is an oil filled compass, which is always nice for use that forget to lock the needle down in a dry compass. It has some weight so it will not fall out of your pocket easily. The picture my mislead if you think it has a lid, but it does come with a felt bag.
