Probably not the most comfortable place for your rats to be but it worked for the hour car ride home. So if you're getting a larger animal/rodent then I wouldn't recommend this. I like that it comes with two pads and I just put them both in there, plus a couple pieces of fleece for added protection.The zipper works fine but is a little awkward when trying to close it up and keep the rats from getting out. We love the clear plastic window because my daughter really enjoyed watching her new rats all the way home.Yes, this could be a bit bigger but overall we are happy with this purchase.
