For the first couple days/nights one cat slept inside the bottom compartment - but over all they preferred the big box. We purchased the item beginning of december, we still have the box when giving this review mid January.Easy to put together, most normal cats would use it a lot. Compact so it sits on the landing. We have two adult cats and one is on the large size and he adores it. He sleeps on the top and can't get enough of the mouse. I have left it a few days to review to give our cats ample opportunity to destroy it and its holding up well to the daily abuse. Our boy cat gets frustrated that he can't catch the mouse and begins biting the corner of the top platform and not even that is showing signs of becoming unstuck. So I'm very impressed. Great for the price. The only thing I've noticed is when my boy cat gets a tad too excited it looks as though it will topple over, however it hasn't actually toppled as yet 🤞.
