They are thinner than the standard grey sheets from art stores but I think because they don’t have that fiber backing. I like that when you carve the color underneath is slightly lighter, allowing you to see where you have carved easily. The rubber is firm but doesn’t crumble like the standard tan / grey sheets and is easy to carve details. I prefer this to the standard pink rubber as that block makes details difficult and bends too much while carving. This one has give like the pink rubber but not as much the details easier. I am still new to block printing but I like this product and will continue using it for a bit. One side of it seems to be shiny while the other is more matte, so I carve on the matte side. The material holds details wonderfully and the lines break off nice and crisp like traditional gray linoleum while staying soft and flexible like the pink rubber carving blocks. It's easy to transfer designs onto and they don't smudge. It's also nice that the material is easy to cut down to smaller sizes. I recommend mounting your carving onto a block because since the material is pretty thin, some designs can be harder to print cleanly.
