He is currently wearing a size 2, so I bought a size 2.5, just so that he wouldn't outgrow them right away. When we received them, he put them on, but they were tight and uncomfortable. I had to return this product. I would recommend purchasing a size bigger to ensure a proper fit. It was unfortunate, because he really wanted these shoes and I had to pay almost $13 to mail them back! Overall, not very happy. He loves the look of these shoes. However....he complained of knee pain and that his feet hurt often. I don't believe these shoes offer the support needed for kids always on the move. They have held up to a lot of abuse. There is a Z-strap on these shoes that make the shoes velcro tightly and easily. Our autistic son love these shoes because the springs provide sensory feedback. For the first few days, he would stomp around the house just to feel the vibrations back through his feet. I doubt that Skechers had this in mind, but hey why not?
