## Description

Orchiata is a standalone orchid growing substrate that can be used directly from the bag for potting and re-potting orchids, produced from the finest quality, 100% pure New Zealand Pinus radiata bark. Pinus radiata is sourced from renewable, man-made forests ensuring availability into the future. New Zealand Pinus radiata is a hard and stable bark compared to other pine species; however, it needs to be processed from its raw state. Our unique natural process creates a high quality, stable, long lasting, toxin free, consistent growing substrate available in different sizes for your specific growing needs. Our process allows Orchiata to hold water and nutrients on the outside layer of each chip, as well as creating a slightly rough surface for roots to anchor to. Pathogens do not survive this process; however beneficial micro-organisms remain. Growers' have reported that frequent re-potting is not necessary, as potted plants have been known to remain in excellent condition in excess of 10 years. It is available in five convenient sizes: Ex Small (1/8" 4-6mm), Small (3/8" 6-9mm), Medium (1/2" 9-12mm), Large ¾" 12-18mm) and Ex Large (1" 18-25mm).

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this post to smell like mold? And its wet why? It was completly ziplocked Wont buy from them anymore**
A: Sometime they come with the humidity trapped inside the zip lock bag. If there is no white mold, leave the bag open and let it dry out before close the bag to put away.

**Q: Do you need to open bag to dry when you receive?ive**
A: You can is you like but it is not necessary. We re-bag to the smaller 1 gal. bags from the large commercial bags almost every week. The larger bags are perforated so the dryness of the medium will change somewhat over time. We like to re-pot using moist medium so we wet the medium before poting an orchid. It is really a matter of choice. Best of luck.

**Q: Its comming biger size bag medium**
A: We will be adding 2.5 gal bags soon.

**Q: I have a bunch of fine rooted bulbophyllums, would the small or medium sized chips be better?**
A: I would say the small chips are what you want. These chips are similar to any chips you might use, and actually if you go to the Orchiata site, there will be guidelines regarding the size chips you need to use for particular plant size use. I will say that for my conditions (relatively high humidity), I mix Growstone GS-2 with the Orchiata to prevent overly wet planting medium.
