It worked perfectly for several years. When I would fill it with boiling water, the outside always stayed very cool to the touch. About 6 months ago, that changed. Now, when I fill it up with boiled water, you can feel the heat coming off the sides of the carafe. The outside of the carafe is literally too hot to touch, and it doesn't keep water hot at all! BTW - It was not dropped, jarred or in any way mistreated. Really weird! ### ⭐⭐⭐ Pretty and shiny BUT... *by C***O on Reviewed in the United States on 4 April 2019* The media could not be loaded.  Pros:Very nice looking i.e. very shiny stainless steel, sleek design.Keeps liquid very hot for many hours as long as the top is tightly sealed.Fair price.Good capacity.Interior is easy to clean.Cons:When I carefully poured hot water into/ out of the carafe it seeped from the seam between the main body and the top endlessly leaving ugly steaks running down the whole length of the carafe... the liquid was trapped somewhere in there and kept bubbling out (see the short video clip).The inner silicone seal/ ring did not provide the tight seal needed for such a carafe which is probably why liquid seeped out of the external part.The top unlike the stainless steel body is of a lightweight material that does not feel sturdy and like it will easily break if not handled with a great deal of care.The nice design of the top (opening and closing mechanism) is interesting to look at but a bit awkward--not easy to use for everyone, which could lead to damage. Also if not sealed correctly, the liquid inside loses heat rapidly.SO... maybe I would buy it again if the manufacturer changed the current top piece to stainless steel or a different sturdy material and, if the inner silicone ring actually provided a tight seal to prevent the fluid from bubbling out onto the exterior seam below the mouth of the jug.
