I believe the OEM hardware is SAE, but I just bought metric which is close enough to the SAE spec. I originally tried a 12 mm bolt but had to use 14 mm to ensure the threads were engaged in the nylon lock nut. I then ground off some threads with an angle grinder. This hardware works great, the only thing I wish is that it would be slightly larger, as I had to use some washers underneath.
