A: Yes, the blade is flat on one side and beveled for the edge on the other. Rides the square no problem.

**Q: how does this compare to the  ryukora 15$, and the kiridasha 9.70$, knives sold on amazon?**
A: Not sure since I don't own either of those,  but this knife came razor sharp. Personally I think it's a bit over priced, I've seen American made knives in this price range with a better finish. Is it a decent tool?  Sure.  Would I buy it again?  Probably not.

This is a nice knife. It comes really sharp and it's steel should stay sharp for quite a while. This one is flat on one side and beveled on the other. It has a nice thickness, handles well, and has a flimsy, thought nice, plastic cover for the blade end. I'll make something more substantial soon, because this knife will cut through the plastic in no time.

I like this knife, it took me a long time to sharpen it, but once I got there it was great. It's very confortable to use and it hold the edge very well. Only reason that I don't rate it with 5 stars is for the fact that took me a lot to get it proper sharp. taking that aside, it is a great knife
