It is an absolutely outstanding knife, with a few very minor caveats that more relate to what you are looking for in a knife personally than the product itself. The first thing I would comment on is that the build quality on mine is rock solid, Emerson overbuilt the crap out of this one and it can stand up to abuse (and has). The only thing I might ding it on is that the liner feels a bit flimsy but it is also titanium which probably explains that, it's never unlocked on me anyway. The other thing is that the beefiness of the knife does make it rather thick and heavy in your pocket but it's something to put up, this knife is not particularly designed to go to the opera and you should have a lighter blade on hand for situations where you can sacrifice sturdiness (mine is the fantastic Kershaw Blur, also my duty knife as an EMT for many years).The blade shape is another plus for some, for me I'm a little mixed on how I feel. I do have a thing for recurves and love the curve of the commander. It is very pronounced, which is great for the serrated portion (those are absolutely wicked too by the way) if you have to cut line/seatbelt webbing in a hurry. The tip is however a bit snubby, I found it doesn't really lend itself very well to doing fine work like cutting paper and I've found I much more tend to rely on the significant belly it has for things like that. The design that way again was likely purposeful in order to have it stand up to extended abuse and the blade is very, very thick for a knife of this size, feels like you could pry open a car door with it. The blade coating is another thing I feel so-so about, it's a dull matte on my knife that I don't find that attractive and if I were to buy it for myself I'd probably get the black version, but again it comes to personal preference.Just a brief comment on the wave feature: when you know what you're doing with it you physically cannot open ANY knife faster. I can draw this knife faster than I can draw my fixed blades. It takes quite a bit of practice to figure it out but once you do it's second nature and the knife leaves your pocket open. I'd get another Emerson just for this alone.So in conclusion yes this is a phenomenal knife but it really is quite specialized. It's not really designed for every day stuff around town but is more adept at emergency situtations where you need the solidness and can sacrifice delicacy a bit. I mean it was originally designed for the things SEALS typically have to do.
