Local furniture stores didn't have a pleasing style and putting a particle board unit together from a big box Scandinavian store was not a consideration. Then, after searching online, I found what my wife and I liked at Standout Designs. To be honest, I never heard of this company in PA so I was reluctant to make a purchase and was unsure of the product quality. Reviews like the ones you're reading and that I read helped me overcome that obstacle. We placed the order and waited for the console to be constructed and delivered. It seems very few transactions escape a hiccup or two; they were addressed and quickly resolved by the owner, Alan. The black console was delivered and setup (we opted for the white glove service) and now the flat screen tv is mounted on the wall above it. The black wood console looks great against our white wall but I'm sure it would look just as good in front of any color wall or in any room. The unit is skillfully made and I can see attention was taken with all the details. The soft close doors function as designed and the drawers close smoothly. Another benefit of doing business with Standout is that it is not a MEGA store so having a conversation with the right person, if needed, is a pleasant change. In summation, if your budget is tight, or you like putting particle board furniture together, well, maybe you should go to the big box Scandinavian or other discount store. I like the hidden wheels, and the many configuration options. The storage drawers are excellent and the upper center can be a drawer or mid speaker housing. I use two large amplifiers, a preamp, DVD and a CD player in it and feel that the ventilation is very good. The back panels are completely removable for ease of wiring and have many ports to hide the wires.
