However I have not done that with this trainer because I believe the instructions warns that the pedals might come off if you pedal in reverse. Before I got this trainer I had a recumbent bike that I pedaled in reverse and one pedal was always coming off and interrupting my workout. That was annoying so I don't pedal in reverse on this one and I don't have the piece that keeps the pedal on while pedaling in reverse. **Q: I will be using this as only an arm cycle strictly to lose weight.
