With a smaller size rope the jaws will get in a bind and become very difficult to release after you lean back in your saddle. I’d stick to the recommended size in the item description. Works perfect on my 1/2” steel core flip line.1/2 is close to 13 mm **Q: Will this work on a steel wire lifeline?** A: I use it on a steel core line with braided rope sheath. Im not sure if it would work on bare wire but I bet it would. It might damage grab but I bet it would work properly.
