One of the other firing slots would hold a dart for around 10 or 15 seconds before it would randomly fire on its own (no pushing the trigger required!). The spring is about as strong as the average toy dart gun. I is absolutely useless for self defense. However, with its random firing it is a danger to anyone using it, or even around it. It could put out an eye out or do damage to small animals pets. This thing should not even be allowed to be imported into the United States. Absolute piece of junk! Contacting the vendor was pointless: they just sent back an email saying "read the manual." Of course, it did not even come with a manual! This vendor seems like it is nothing more than a scam operation selling overpriced junk that they will not warrant or stand behind. Review: This thing is great! - Not a toy. Super sharp darts that will stick in drywall if you hit it just right. I squirted a little WD40 in the case and it kicked it up a notch. The buttons will not press in until you slide the black safety sleeve down. Had to mess with it a while to figure that out, there were no directions. Store it unloaded to keep the springs from wearing down (and just to be safe). It's powerful enough to punch through damn near anything, but the plastic tops keep it from actually going in. I shot a brand new Bounty paper towel roll and it damn near went to the cardboard roll in the middle, but it didn't stick.
