I saw this and I had very little hopes for it, thinking it would be rubbish by comparison but Oh boy, was I wrong!! Best Press does smell amazing, and this starch doesn’t smell as pretty but it’s not unpleasant, and here’s the thing, it gives lovely results! at £8 for 1L compared to £13 for a bottle of Best Press…. There’s no argument really. I will continue to buy Best Press for sure, but I think i will keep it for when I am making a seriously special quilt and I’ll use this starch for everything else. The spray bottle is a bit meh but I just decanted it into a best press bottle! lol —- UPDATE —- Used for 4 ish months and made around 4 quilts with it and only now starting to run out. I 100% stand with my original post, this stuff is great. As for the stains, I’ve used this spray starch on 1000TC Egyptian cotton and it does leave “water marks” (not sure if that’s what they actually are) but once the project is washed, they vanish. I make a lot of patchwork quilts. I spray it first then iron it flat. Makes life easier when you want to cut a fabric into a precise straight cut. **Q: Would this work on macrame fringes and feathers made with cord?** A: It may work with spray starch but if you can get powdered starch that you add to water you can soak the macrame in it and leave the starch to dry in .Spray starch gives a much gentler ,lighter finish so may be less effective. **Q: Would this work for a stiff bib dress shirt and Marcella waistcoat for white tie?** A: I think this would provide a softer starching than would be necessary. Powdered starch allows you to soak the item in the starch solution and adjust how much starch you use . The spray applies more of a finish to sheets etc. **Q: Would this stiffen the collar of a linen shirt** A: Yes.
