Efficiently converts your standard grill into a smoker(or oven) for the low and slow cooks. Manufactured to fit snuggly in a standard Weber 22” kettle while allowing for fine tuning of the bottom vent to dial in the desired temperature. Heavy gauge resists warping when heated to keep that snug fit in place to direct the airflow where it needs to be. Highly recommended if you are a camper. Allows you to convert your standard camp accessory into a smoker without having to lug along a separate unit. Doing a reverse sear cook? It seems like this unit is designed just for that!Considerations: You may need to clean the inside surface of your kettle to get the best fit. However, it’s a good practice to do this anyway to prevent flairups for any grill.Pros: Superb materials, snug fit and simple easy to setup and use. Holds plenty of fuel for long cooks when employing either the minion method or slow burn from one end of the basket to the other with a modified snake method. (Google the meanings for fuel setup methods) Keeps the fuel supply tight to one side of the grill to maximize the indirect cooking area (When compared to other coal basket options). Portable.Cons: If you want to use a water tray or drip pan under your BBQ delicacy, you’ll need to rig something up. With the removal of the bottom grate to make room for the Smoke Plate you lose that platform to set trays on. If you have a Weber Proformer series of Weber grill, it works there too just not as perfectly as on a standard Weber 22” kettle as that is what it’s designed for. It fits but the temperature control is not as adjustable due to the internal Proformer setup by Weber.Jef – Pitmaster of Smoked Meat with Jef® ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Turns kettle into slow smoker *by N***A on Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2019* This product works and is easy to use. Don't go buy a cheap smoker if you already have a Weber. I followed the instructions and was able to slow smoke a pork butt for 8 hours averaging 250 degrees. Foiled after 6 hours and it just fell apart. My next cook will be brisket and maybe even beef ribs. The temperature is easy to control and maintain. I do some cooks at 275 and some at 225 but simply adjusting the weber vents can put you right where you want to be. I use a regular disposable foil pan as a drip pan or water pan. I haven't reverse seared anything on it yet but hope to do a sous vide rib eye and then sear. I even smoked then roasted a chicken by smoking it for the first hour and then opening the vents to let it get up to 400. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to use, make smoking meat (BBQ) so easy. *by W***E on Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2019* The Smoke Plate fits great in my Weber and is so easy to use for offset cooking and smoking.
