HVAC Armaflex Copper Insulation 1/2" Thick Nominal Wall 6ft Long. This is not PVC size insulation. If you still want to use for 3/4" Sch 40 PVC pipe, the one that can fit well is 1 1/8th. This is for copper and sizes given are for copper.

Review: Quality insulation, great price, use this for DIY and save big $$$ - I tried to find a similar product locally at a number of home improvement stores but kept getting pointed to different stores that might carry it. I was able to find one HVAC supply place that stocked a similar product, but they only sold to contractors with accounts and said I wouldn't be able to get the product except to hire a HVAC contractor. I knew at that point they were full of it and just trying to drive business to an overpriced contractor who wanted to charge me a $75 service charge + $50 for insulation and install. With this product and some pipe tape I had laying around (like thick electrical tape), I ended up doing 2 A/C units insulation for under $13. This insulation doesn't have a slit in it like some of the cheap stuff available at home improvement stores, but that is solved with a very sharp knife and some patience. I used a utility knife with a brand new blade and took my time, I found that holding the knife at an angle and slowly dragging length-wise along the insulation I was able to get a relatively clean cut with few nicks. That's the hardest part, then you just size the length for your pipes, fit it on there and put 5 or so areas with some tape at various curved points or as needed. I did the whole thing in 30-40 minutes and much cheaper than the A/C companies wanted. This product has held up in the AZ heat/sun, was easy to install and saved a ton of $$$ over having a contractor do the work. I can't recommend this enough. UPDATE: After 5 years the sun has deteriorated the insulation and it needs replacing again. This has lasted longer then my previous insulation so I will buy again and try to better protect it from the sun this time.
Review: This is the insulation you want for outdoor A/C line - East to cut and install with a utility knife, stays in place with line set tape. Stands up to heat and rain - don't make the mistake I made and buy open-cell insulation for outdoor use although it's advertised as indoor/outdoor.

**Q: Does this have UV protection?**
A: No UV protection. But, you can paint it with a couple of coats of water based latex. Even better, a coat of mastic duct sealant. Mastic will prevent mold and mildew from forming.

**Q: Can I use this over heat tape?**
A: No, this isn't designed for heat pipe. You need fiberglass pipe insulation.

**Q: Ok. I'm new at this.  My a/c pipe has a circumstance of 2 1/2"   i divided that by 3.1415 which came to .795. Will this work?**
A: too much math, just check that the od of your ac is less than the id of the insulation
