They are in the heavier side so be sure to mount them securely. Review: Well built and good looking. Mounting mechanism can be improved. - Very nice and attractive. Wish it could be bigger. Only real complaint is the mounting is like that for a picture frame. 2 nails holds it up relying on gravity to keep it in place. If you push up, the nail separates from the frame and if the clip does not catch the nail on the way back down the frame will fall off. The frame itself is heavy so the likelihood of this happening is low but still possible. I have only used the small magnets that came with the board and they are holding up the one item. I also use the pins that came with the board as well. **Q: What size is this board? I can't believe they left out such an important piece of infomation.** A: 20 3/4in X 15in. I purchased two to go side by side to make it large enough to cover the space over my desk. **Q: I have a granite backsplash on the wall over my granite desktop. Would command strips be adequate for mounting this board?** A: I would not recommend doing that. This is a sturdy, quality made product with a bit of weight to it and not sure the command strips would hold it over the long haul. Understand, this is just my opinion - my board is anchored to studs in a wall. I love the fact that you can either use push pin or magnets or both. My daughter is having tons of fun designing how she wants to layout her things on the board. I wish there were different size options for this product (small, medium, big). My older daughter need one too. this one is a little small for her, so I'm buying 2 to align them vertically together.
