Our MaxxHaul Truck Bed Extender allows you to extend your vehicle's loading length by 49" quick and easy. Adjustable height (from the top of hitch opening): bed height between 13-3/8" and 20-3/8", roof height between 53-3/8" and 60-3/8". Fits into standard 2" x 2" class III and IV hitch receivers. Ideal for pick up trucks with short bed, SUV's, vans or other vehicles that can load lumbers, canoes, etc. Features two welded loops on each end of the cross bar to tie down any loads for added security. The extender is black powder coated to resist rust and corrosion. Maximum distributed weight capacity of 350 lbs.

I was worried about some of the reviews saying it’s a loose fit. But rest assured this is secured after you tie down what ever you need to it won’t shake or budge. Some of the cons of this extender doesn't come with hitch pin. Also tie down points are a little small and not to many points to begin with. Last thing is the pins that put this together isn’t lockable so make sure install it when you need it or someone can walk away with it. Now for the pros sturdiness this is fantastic works great. Easy to put together and extremely portable. I leave it in my bed against my cab that way I have it with me if I ever need it. Alignment after putting it in the hitch is spot on. The cost is great for what you get. Looks to be powder coated so should last a long time. So overall this is a great purchase if I can figure a way to make those pins lockable this would be a 10 star unit all day.

I drove sixty-five miles to the Tractor Supply Store that had Sun Dolphin American 12 plastic jon boats in stock. I bought one, loaded it up in the bed, ratchet strapped everything down tight, and drove home. The boat did not move. This is an EXCELLENT option to carry a jon boat if you have no trailer. Some reviewers comment about the assembly being wobbly, but that wobble is what keeps parts from breaking when you hit bumps - so those nitpickers don't really know what they're talking about. I am so glad I purchased this hitch mounted bed extender, and I plan on using it extensively, not only to carry my jon boat but also to haul some long lumber and other building materiel. I highly recommend this item. I have seen how some have added pool noodle cushioning to the cradle, and I fully intend on doing the same as that is a brilliant idea for protecting a load. Buy with confidence because it works, and enjoy the fact that you're getting it for such a bargain basement price!

**Q: What’s the maximum length for hauling long materials?**
A: I have a 2001 Ford Ranger with a 6 foot bed. I haul a 14’.5” kayak in the bed with this extender with no problems.  The maximum length depends on the length of your bed and that you are past the center line of the material you are hauling .

**Q: I have a Nissan Frontier crew cab with a 5+ ft bed + tailgate. Will this hitch mount give me 11' total to haul a 14' ladder?**
A: This extender will only extend about 4.5 feet from the hitch. So with the tailgate down you are looking at about 3 to 3.5 past the edge of the tail gate. You would have roughly 5 feet, give or take a bit, extending out past the extender. I have used this to haul a 14.5 canoe with my truck bed being 6.5 feet and then the tail gate. It handled the load with no problem with no slippage or bouncing. It is very well made and if you tie it down correctly, it should handle it fine.

**Q: What is the minimum rise on the angled extender from the hitch?**
A: From the center of the receiver on my vehicles trailer hitch to the top of the crossbar that my kayak rests on, the minimum rise is 15 inches.

**Q: Can it be used to haul alligators?**
A: If one has the cojones.... anything can be modified to haul alligators

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Solution for Short Bed Trucks

I’ve been very happy with the MaxxHaul 70231 Hitch Mount Truck Bed Extender. It has two configurations, although so far I’ve only used the shorter setup. I drive a Tacoma with a 5-foot bed, and it works perfectly for hauling my extension ladder and half bundles of EMT. The extender is solid and doesn’t feel cheaply made at all. It assembled easily and has worked exactly as expected. I also purchased the MaxxHaul 70050 Trailer Hitch Lock based on another reviewer’s recommendation. Some reviews mention that the extender can feel a little loose. That’s technically true, but this isn’t like a rigid trailer hitch. Because the extender has a couple of sections, a little play actually makes sense. If it were completely rigid it could potentially put more stress on the components. Overall the quality has been very good and it’s been a great solution for hauling longer materials with a short bed truck. If you have a Tacoma or any short-bed pickup and occasionally need to carry ladders, conduit, lumber, or similar materials, this works really well. Very happy with the purchase.
