**Q: What is the response time to stable accurate reading?**
A: You put the meter in a pail of moist soil ( you decide what "moist" is ) and then you adjust the meter to a reading of "5". As you test the soil ... if the reading is below 5 then it is not as moist as you might like it. If the reading is above 5 then the moisture level might be higher than you would like. I like the meter because I live in AZ and the soil is very rocky, but I am still able to get the meter to go in the ground and get a measure. I really like the meter

**Q: This is quite pricey comapred to similar alternatives. Is there any warranty with this to guarantee long term reliability?**
A: Sorry, I can't remember that now - I will have had mine 2 years next spring and haven't had any problems with it - I changed the battery last spring although it was working ok, as I think they said they last a year plus(?), but mine seems very reliable

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sturdy, well built, and consistent

Out of the box the meter is already usable (about right for my indoor plants) without calibration. Compare to other cheap soil meters that I've used before, this one is definitely well/over built. The only thing that I don't like it is the battery compartment, after removing the 4 screws, you'll find the battery holder at the back, not easily accessible. It should be rearranged and place in the front.
