It is that. The taste is just ok. I am not a fan of mint or cinnamon tho, so you might be more enthused. It has treated the sensitivity completely. You do have t adjust to the fact you are deliberately putting dirt in your mouth. That's exactly what it feels like, and when you spit it out, it is wet dirt in your sink. I can live with it for now at least. I paid $13 and change for it, and while pricey, 4oz is a lot.*** after using this longer, I upgraded this another star. The wet dirt feeling goes away. My mouth feels really clean after I brush with this- my teeth don't hurt- the taste grew on me- and best of all , no sore in my mouth from SLS! It is also fluoride-free -a must for my consideration. So far, it hasn't made a difference in my sensitivity, but I'm hopeful that it will. The part I dislike the most is that it's a powder and not a paste. I have to remove small amounts of the powder to use over a day or 2 so the powder in the rest of the container does not get wet or contaminated. It's a bit of a hassle when you're used to the ease of squeezing paste from a tube. However, it is the only tooth product for sensitive teeth that I could find that does not have fluoride and a bunch of other chemicals.
