If you live in the countryside, then maybe you may not need it. But anytime you're anywhere that has any concerning levels of pollution, it would be well worth using it. I'm very glad I bought it, and use it every day. **Q: what does this need to be plugged in to in the car** A: If you have a USB connection in your radio for example, you can plug in there. Or you get an adaptor for your cigarette lighter plug that has USB. **Q: Does it consume alot of electricity .?** A: It says on the bottom of it in on one of the pictures that its' input voltage is 5 volts.
