How far up the calf do the socks come? lenth heal to top. Thank you** A: I just measured. I got large size crew sock for shoe size 6 to 12.5 mens. Looked up how high a crew sock is supposed to go online, says average is 6-8 inches. These come up 17 inches to just under my knee. That isn't even close, and more than twice as high as an average crew length sock. I don't know what these are, but they are not crew socks though they say crew socks on them. I will be returning mine. There is another kind called Athletic Crew which is apparently different than crew. I had bought those in the past and they worked great, but did not realize there was a difference. I will try those and see if they are like my old ones, but these are not it. I did not by "extended version" whatever that means that the other commenter mentioned. **Q: Are these socks tight on the ankle area, leave marks and itch.** A: These socks are firm on the ankle and do not slip down. I have not found them too tight. They do not itch at all and I have not found any serious marks on my ankles.
